Welcome to the NNRC website.
The Nanotech1 building is a shared facility for all University of South Florida faculty and students conducting multidisciplinary research. It contains a whole suite of state-of-the-art measurement instruments as well as sophisticated fabrication equipment that is "loaned" to researchers for their individual projects.
Research based on the exploitation of nanotechnology has become pervasive in the past 5 years. Researchers in physics, chemistry, biology, pharmacology, medicine, cancer diagnosis, and virtually all disciplines of engineering are making great strides in developing new devices, materials and processes based on nanotechnology. The billions of dollars in research that is spent worldwide each year in these areas are producing new, innovative, cost effective products that benefit health care, transportation, computers, construction, national security, sports and recreation, apparel and communications.
The challenge of conducting research in these diverse (and seemingly disparate) areas is to have the right instruments and prototyping equipment readily available to researchers as they move quickly across disciplinary lines. Meeting this challenge is the mission of NNRC. The equipment available in NNRC facilities is maintained and operated by a professional staff whose expertise facilitates quick and innovative solutions to researcher's problems. The professional staff also provides intensive training to researchers thus enabling the faculty and student to become independent certified users of the equipment. The NNRC facilities are available to local industry for analytical and development work.
We welcome all users to our facilities and look forward to all inquires on how we can make our services and tools available to them. |
